Harry Potter's 8th Story

By Jaelyn Carr

It’s been nine years since the release of the last Harry Potter book. Since 2007, Harry Potter fans have been craving for the next chapter. This Sunday, they will finally receive it.

A new Harry Potter book, called Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, is set to be released July 31, which happens to be Harry Potter’s birthday in the books. There are actually two parts to this book, which is actually a rehearsal script of a play in Britain of the same name, which premiers a day earlier. It’s also an official sequel to the original books, making it the eighth installment in the franchise.

The story will focus on Harry Potter and his son Albus. All of the troubled memories Harry has to deal with get mixed in with Albus having to follow a family legacy at school he does not want to be a part of. This stage play’s script was not only written by J.K. Rowling, who wrote the seven previous Harry Potter books, but also Jack Thorne and John Tiffany.

The Harry Potter series are full of very exciting books and the fact that another book is coming out is a huge success for JK Rowling. She has already made tens of millions of dollars from the seven books, but the seven-book series turned into an eight-movie franchise that has reeled in over $7 billion in box office revenue.

Fans will also be taken back to the magic world in November, when the highly-anticipated Harry Potter spinoff film Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is released. The story, based off of one of the text books Harry and his friends find in the Hogwarts library, is rumored to be the first of a new trilogy.

Check in with the LifeCamp Times next week to see how well the book does in it’s first week of release.
